The Chula Vista Elementary School District has announced that one-third of its campuses were recently recognized as 2016 California Honor Roll schools by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE).

“We are proud to recognize those schools and school districts who are succeeding in CA_HR16_School - logoputting their students on a path of productivity that not only leads to success in the classroom, but also prepares them to contribute to and benefit from a more productive economy,” said Greg Jones, ERP and CBEE Board Chairman. “Leadership from both education and the business community is critical to linking success from one system to the next.”

The Honor Roll is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students. Schools receiving this distinction from leaders in the California academic and business communities have demonstrated consistently high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time, and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.

The following 15 of 45 CVESD campuses received the Honor Roll distinction:

Allen (Ella B.) Elementary, Casillas (Joseph) Elementary, Chula Vista Hills Elementary, Clear View Elementary, EastLake Elementary, Finney (Myrtle S.) Elementary, Halecrest Elementary, Hilltop Drive Elementary, Olympic View Elementary, Parkview Elementary, Rogers (Greg) Elementary, Rosebank Elementary, Silver Wing Elementary, Sunnyside Elementary, and Tiffany (Burton C.) Elementary.

District officials credited teachers and school leaders for their focus on high expectations and continuous improvement.

“We did not apply for this award. They found us!” said Superintendent Francisco Escobedo, Ed.D. “It is a great honor to have been chosen. Our students and staff work very hard to achieve the results we have experienced in our District. The Honor Roll distinction is a credit to everyone involved in supporting our teaching and learning.”
